# Manchester City: Fans excited by transfer links with Leon Bailey

**A number of Manchester City fans have given their approval to a transfer report linking them with a possible move for Leon Bailey.**

The [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8355799/Manchester-City-target-Leon-Bailey-replacement-Leroy-Sane.html) reported that the Premier League champions have targeted the Bayer Leverkusen winger, rated at £40m by his club, as a potential replacement for Leroy Sane, who has been linked with a summer move to Bayern Munich (as per [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/05/13/bayern-munich-prepare-50m-bid-manchester-citys-leroy-sane/)). The news was subsequently shared on Twitter by [@City\_Xtra](https://twitter.com/City_Xtra/status/1265038710153723904).

The 22-year-old Jamaican has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit this season and, while primarily a left winger, can operate anywhere across the forward line or as an attacking midfielder (as per [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leon-bailey/leistungsdaten/spieler/387626)). He managed [one shot and one key pass](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1388407/LiveStatistics/Germany-Bundesliga-2019-2020-Borussia-M-Gladbach-Bayer-Leverkusen) during a 24-minute substitute appearance in his team’s 3-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.

Bailey has also struck up a friendship with Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling, who was also born in Jamaica and who has been described by the Bayer Leverkusen player as his “big brother”. \[via [besoccer.com](https://www.besoccer.com/new/meet-leon-bailey-ndash-raheem-sterling-rsquo-s-lsquo-little-brother-rsquo-who-is-happy-to-make-chelsea-wait)\]

These City fans on Twitter are very keen to have the 22-year-old at the Etihad Stadium, with some hoping that Sterling’s presence can swing the deal in the English club’s favour:
