# Manchester City: Fans fume over Jordan Henderson being named BBC’s Premier League Player of the Season

**Lots of Manchester City fans have registered their disgust over the identity of a BBC poll to choose the Premier League Player of the Season.**

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson [came out top in the public vote](https://www.bbc.com/sport/live/football/52528113) with 23% of the poll, followed by team-mate Sadio Mane on 19%. Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was third on the list with 14% of the vote (via [@City\_Chief](https://twitter.com/City_Chief/status/1258408807765544962) on Twitter).

As [emphatic Premier League leaders](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2019), the Reds dominated the BBC poll’s Team of the Season with seven players included. Reigning champions City were the only other club with more than one player in the XI, De Bruyne being joined in the team by Sergio Aguero. \[via [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/live/football/52528113)\]

The Belgian midfielder has provided more assists than any other player in the league this season with 16 (as per [premierleague.com](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/goal_assist)), along with scoring [eight goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kevin-de-bruyne/leistungsdaten/spieler/88755) in the division. Raheem Sterling, scorer of [11 Premier League goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/torschuetzenliste/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2019) in the current campaign, was overlooked for the BBC poll’s best XI of the season.

Unsurprisingly, these Manchester City fans were not impressed with Henderson being selected as the Player of the Season ahead of De Bruyne:
