# Manchester City: Fans want Julian Nagelsmann to succeed Pep Guardiola

**According to The Telegraph journalist Jason Burt, via [Sports Illustrated](https://www.si.com/.amp-manchestercity/soccer/manchestercity/news/german-manager-being-closely-monitored-by-man-city-should-pep-guardiola-not-wish-to-extend-his-contract), Manchester City are ‘closely monitoring’ RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann as a direct successor to Pep Guardiola, with many supporters pleading for such an appointment.**

Nagelsmann, who has guided Leipzig through successive Champions League qualification campaigns, reaching the semi-finals last season, is now being tipped as a potential heir to Guardiola with City keeping tabs.

City defender Angelino has thrived under the coach at Leipzig, scoring a [brace for the Germans](https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/news/angelino-s-first-goal-close-to-world-class-rb-leipzig-nagelsmann-basaksehir-13306) in their opening Champions League group stage win over Istanbul Basaksehir.

With the manager now linked with a potential job at the Etihad Stadium, many Sky Blues have voiced their approval over his potential appointment, with some claiming he is the ‘[only candidate](https://twitter.com/realtalkmcfc/status/1321419253652901889?s=21)‘ and ‘[best replacement’](https://twitter.com/king_kdb_/status/1321418249913966592?s=21) for Guardiola.
