# Manchester City: Fans react to transfer update on Nelson Semedo

**Plenty of Manchester City fans have been left perplexed by the club’s reported pursuit of Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo.**

According to [Barca Universal](https://barcauniversal.com/nelson-semedo-agrees-terms-with-man-city/), several Spanish media outlets have claimed that the Portugal right-back has reached a personal agreement with the Premier League champions, with the update shared by [@City\_Xtra](https://twitter.com/City_Xtra/status/1260679587958317059) on Twitter.

Earlier this week, [Sport](https://www.sport.es/) had claimed \[via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/everything-indicates-players-next-destination-will-be-man-city-great-interest-from-etihad/)\] that “everything indicates” that the 26-year-old will move to the Etihad Stadium, having also been courted by Pep Guardiola last summer. Italian media outlet [Corriere dello Sport](https://www.corrieredellosport.it/news/calcio/calcio-mercato/2020/05/12-69686233/clamoroso_inter_torna_cancelo_/) reported that Semedo could be involved in a three-way transfer which would see him replace Inter-bound Joao Cancelo in Manchester.

Semedo, who has made [111 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nelson-semedo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231572/verein/131) for Barcelona and is valued at £28.8m by [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nelson-semedo/profil/spieler/231572), could potentially become the [third right-back in Guardiola’s squad](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/kadernachposition/verein/281) if Cancelo remains at the club, with Kyle Walker the [current first choice](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/leistungsdaten/verein/281) in that position.

In contrast to the plethora of full-back options, Manchester City’s centre-back depth is sparse – they currently have [four players in that area](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/kadernachposition/verein/281) but two ([Aymeric Laporte](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aymeric-laporte/verletzungen/spieler/176553) and [John Stones](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/john-stones/verletzungen/spieler/186590)) have been blighted by injuries this season, Nicolas Otamendi is now 32 and Eric Garcia remains [inexperienced at top-flight level](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eric-garcia/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/466794).

These Manchester City fans weren’t exactly jubilant at reading the reports about Semedo – some questioned by Guardiola seems to be prioritising him over a centre-back. Scroll down through the feedback from some City supporters below:
