# Rangers: Premier League giant hold Alex Lowry meeting

**A Premier League giant has reportedly now held a meeting over signing Alex Lowry from Glasgow Rangers in the summer.**

### The Lowdown: Newcastle talks

It was [reported](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/newcastle-magpies-hold-talks-with-alex-lowrys-agent/) earlier this week that Newcastle United have held talks with Lowry’s agent over a potential move this summer, after he [reportedly](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-lowry-contract-blow/) rejected a three-and-a-half-year contract at Ibrox.

His current deal expires in [2023](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-lowry/profil/spieler/633753), and so the Teddy Bears now have a big decision to make over whether to cash in on Lowry in the summer or try and push him once more to sign a new contract.

### The Latest: Man City meeting

As per [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-city-in-talks-over-signing-rangers-star-alex-lowry/), a recruitment source has revealed that Premier League giants Manchester City have now held a meeting with Lowry’s camp, as they too plot a potential move in the summer.

The reigning English top-flight champions are ‘tracking’ Lowry amid ‘major doubts’ over his future at the Light Blues.

### The Verdict: Worrying

It is certainly worrying that a team of the stature and attraction of Man City are now looking at the possibility of signing Lowry this summer.

He is a player that is [highly thought of](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/rangers-3-0-celtic-alex-lowry-spfl/) at the club, and has already made [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alex-lowry/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/633753/plus/0?saison=&verein=124&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) senior appearances this season despite being just 18 years of age.

Described as a ‘[fabulous](https://twitter.com/Buntingfootball/status/1491084081949741056)‘ player by journalist Josh Bunting, Lowry is certainly someone that the Gers will not want to let go of so easily.
