Glasgow Rangers have reportedly been ‘knocked back’ in a bid to bring an English attacker to Ibrox on loan for the rest of the season.

Earlier this evening, the Premiership club confirmed the transfer of midfielder Nicolas Raskin, who has joined on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.
There have been claims that the Light Blues are working on at least one more signing before tonight’s deadline, so it will be interesting to see if they complete any more business in the next few hours.
The Latest: Palmer interest ‘knocked back’
As shared by The Sun’s live transfer blog (11:15 am), their journalist Phil Thomas claims that Rangers have been ‘knocked back’ in a bid to sign Cole Palmer on loan from Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola has blocked the move, having already blocked inquiries from both Brighton and Hove Albion and Sheffield United for the 20-year-old.
The Verdict: Move on
Michael Beale and Rangers need to move on from Palmer now and try to get another attacking body in at Ibrox before the deadline.
Tom Lawrence is injured, while no other winger in the squad has scored more than three goals in all competitions so far this season.
The Gers have scored 18 fewer goals than bitter rivals Celtic at the top of the Premiership, and they need more help in the attacking third.
Hailed by City coaching staff as ‘exceptional’ and a ‘talent’ with ‘great quality’ (talkSPORT), Palmer scored a stunning 42 goals and supplied a further 19 assists at youth level for City, and he has made 30 senior appearances at the age of just 20 (Transfermarkt).
The Englishman would have been an exciting signing for Rangers, but Beale and co will now have to look elsewhere.
