# Man United believe they have vital trump card in Griezmann transfer chase

**“Griez-is-our-man, if Mou can’t get him no-one can!” is often a chant that breaks out in the Transfer Tavern nowadays, with Manchester United fans well on board with their club’s supposed plans to nab Antoine Griezmann.**

Indeed, the [Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/antoine-griezmanns-transfer-manchester-united-wayne-rooney-a7559996.html) reported in the wake of the January transfer window that the Atletico Madrid attacker is the club’s No.1 priority for the summer, and now the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/592895/Antoine-Griezmann-Manchester-United-Paul-Pogba) have got back in on the act.

The outlet claim that Griezmann in Jose Mourinho’s top target heading towards the looming off-season as he plots to strengthen his frontline which is relatively tame, but their suggestion that Paul Pogba is vital in negotiations really is interesting.

The world-record man is friends with his international team-mate and the club hope that their relationship will sway the 25-year-old towards Old Trafford, which could be necessary if they miss out on Champions League qualification – [something the forward is believed to be worried about](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2829342/antoine-griezmann-snub-manchester-united-jose-mourinho-champions-league/).

Griezmann functioned well in Les Bleus’ XI with Pogba as they reached the final of EURO 2016, finishing the tournament with the Golden Boot after netting six goals.
