**It’s been a strange day for the Manchester United fans, who saw their game at Old Trafford with Bournemouth called off due to security concerns.**

Manchester City’s draw with Swansea City saw the Red Devils’ hopes of reaching the Champions League all but ended, making it quite the miserable afternoon all round.

Manager Louis van Gaal rarely ever provides a beacon of light, though on a day like today, the United supporting locals have found some joy from the Dutch coach.

That’s because, according to [the Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/7150919/Louis-van-Gaal-David-De-Gea-has-no-intention-of-leaving-Manchester-United-for-Real-Madrid-in-summer.html), he’s insisted goalkeeper David De Gea will remain at the club this summer despite persistent interest from Real Madrid.

The Spanish stopper was on the verge of a massive summer switch to join *Los Blancos* last summer, only for the deal to fall at the final hurdle.

After losing his place in the Red Devils’ lineup, he penned a new three-year deal at Old Trafford and was reinstated between the posts.

Since then, the *La Roja* international has further established himself as one of the premier custodians on the continent with a multitude of Herculean performances.

There is still [believed](https://www.transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=171443) to be interest in the 25-year old from those in the Spanish capital as they bid to capture one of the finest Spanish talents around.

However, van Gaal has [backed](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/7150919/Louis-van-Gaal-David-De-Gea-has-no-intention-of-leaving-Manchester-United-for-Real-Madrid-in-summer.html) the former Atletico Madrid man to remain at the Theatre of Dreams and [insists](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/7150919/Louis-van-Gaal-David-De-Gea-has-no-intention-of-leaving-Manchester-United-for-Real-Madrid-in-summer.html) he is happy with the Manchester giants.

‘It was written that it was inevitable that he would go to Real in 2016. But it’s not like that’,[stated](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/7150919/Louis-van-Gaal-David-De-Gea-has-no-intention-of-leaving-Manchester-United-for-Real-Madrid-in-summer.html) the 64-year old.

‘In this world of football you never know. It can always happen — but I don’t think so. He is very comfortable here.’

‘He has said that many, many times, not only to me but also to his colleagues and the fans — in interviews or things like that — and he’s extended his contract.’

**Will De Gea be at Old Trafford next season?**
