# Manchester United: Fans slam Daniel James as Inter are ready to hold talks over Alexis Sanchez

**Manchester United have made some massive mistakes over the years but [signing Alexis Sanchez](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1175139/Manchester-United-Ed-Woodward-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-news) has to be one of Ed Woodward’s biggest regrets so far.**

The Red Devils had high hopes for Sanchez after he arrived at Old Trafford from Arsenal back in [2018](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1175139/Manchester-United-Ed-Woodward-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-news), as they had beaten Manchester City to his signature. Unfortunately, his transfer has turned out to be a failure.

The Telegraph’s [James Ducker](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/07/14/exclusive-manchester-united-open-offers-six-players-boost-transfer/) recently revealed that the Chilean currently earns £400,000-a-week wages, even though he has only scored five times in 45 games for [Man United](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alexis-sanchez/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/40433) in all competitions.

Sanchez has spent the past season on loan at Inter Milan, although he seems to have [turned his form around](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-transfer-rumours/manchester-united-alexis-sanchez-permanent-move-inter-conte-rumours/), finishing with [a goal and two assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3229446) as the Nerrazzuri put Brescia to the sword in the Serie A earlier this month.

Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Sport Italia, as cited by [Manchester Evening News](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/man-utd-alexis-sanchez-loan-18646337) (via [@utdreport](https://twitter.com/utdreport/status/1286281286848585729)), that they are holding talks with Ed Woodward to extend his deal.

Despite his injury history, the 31-year-old has actually received a higher [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/25244/Show/Alexis-S%C3%A1nchez) rating than his teammate [Daniel James](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/302313/Show/Daniel-James) for his performances this season. James has [struggled for consistency](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/manchester-united/manchester-united-alexis-sanchez-jadon-sancho-dortmund-transfer-latest/) up until now, as he has failed to score or provide an assist since [the Premier League](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daniel-james/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/319301/plus/0?saison=2019&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) restart.

Unsurprisingly, lots of United fans slammed the “shambolic” decision, as some believe Sanchez is “better than Dan James,” with one supporter tweeting “what a joke”.

> Conte’s winning Serie A next season. Meanwhile we’ve got Dan James who can run fast and…that’s all he can do.
