**It’s the hope** **that seems to kill our Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern. Just as they looked like pipping arch rivals Manchester City to fourth spot, a 3-2 loss to West Ham United last night put the onus back on the latter in the quest for all things Champions League.**

While it is little consolation for the Red Devils in this evening, Anthony Martial notched a brace and further proved why he was a wonderful signing from Monaco over the course of last summer.

Now, if reports from Spanish daily *Super Deporte* (via the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/514454/Man-United-Monaco-Bernardo-Silva-Anthony-Martial-transfer-news)) are to be believed, it’s easy to see why the club would return to France in order to land further recruits ahead of next season.

It is [claimed](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/514454/Man-United-Monaco-Bernardo-Silva-Anthony-Martial-transfer-news) that the Manchester giants are preparing to launch a mammoth bid to land highly rated Portuguese midfielder Bernado Silva.

The 21-year old has registered seven assists this season for the provincial outfit, emerging as one of their key players.

Renato Sanches, who was strongly linked with a move to the Theatre of Dreams, officially signed for Bayern Munich yesterday in a shock deal that has [reportedly](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/514454/Man-United-Monaco-Bernardo-Silva-Anthony-Martial-transfer-news) meant United have had to pursue other targets.

**Where do Man United need to strengthen next season?**
