# Man United legend reportedly offered massive deal to link up with former teammate

**Still celebrating the fact their side are through to their second domestic cup final in under a year, the Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are dancing in delirious delight on the pool tables of the Transfer Tavern.**

For them, seeing the Red Devils return to Wembley is all part of the recovery process as Jose Mourinho does his best to restore former glories to a club who failed to deal with the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. As the club move forward, the Portuguese has seen fit to drop Wayne Rooney recently, despite the fact he recently became the club’s record goalscorer.

Which is why our United-mad punters are split over recent reports from journalist [Tancredi Palmeri](https://twitter.com/tancredipalmeri/status/824607004723478529). The notable Italian has [claimed](https://twitter.com/tancredipalmeri/status/824607004723478529) the 31-year-old England skipper has been offered a stunning €36.5m annual salary by Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua.

> BOOM! Wayne Rooney has been offered 36.5m€ per year from Shanghai Shenhua!

The CSL has been attracting top European talents in recent months as a result of the lucrative wages on offer and Shenhua in particular recently landed Rooney’s former teammate Carlos Tevez on an eye-waveringly expensive deal.

The figure [reportedly](https://twitter.com/tancredipalmeri/status/824607004723478529) offered to him roughly equates to around £600k-per-week and the United fans in the bar wouldn’t at all blame Rooney for taking it, having done so much at Old Trafford.
