# Man United looking to bolster defence with one of the world’s best centre-backs

[*Gianluca Di Marzio*](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/eng/inter-manchester-united-interested-in-defender-miranda/)[states](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/eng/inter-manchester-united-interested-in-defender-miranda/) Manchester United have expressed interest in signing Brazilian defender Joao Miranda from Atletico Madrid, who’s approaching the end of a two-year loan in Germany with Inter Milan.

The Red Devils are keen to strengthen their defensive ranks, which have been leaky this season, and signing 31-year-old Miranda, who’s regarded as one of the best central defenders in world football, would certainly go a long way to fixing their issues.

Whilst Inter Milan have a obligatory clause to buy the player permanently from Atletico Madrid this summer, it’s [revealed United could snatch his signature for a bargain price](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/eng/inter-manchester-united-interested-in-defender-miranda/) as Inter would be keen on a re-sale to raise funds for Roberto Mancini’s own planned transfer activity.

Miranda was a crucial part of Atletico’s La Liga winning success in 2014, where the Brazilian also helped the club reach the Champions League final.
