# Manchester United: Marcus Thuram pre-contract agreement a possibility

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) could sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram on a pre-contract agreement.**

### The Lowdown: Weghorst set to sign

It seems as if [Erik ten Hag](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/erik-ten-hag/) will bolster his attacking ranks at Old Trafford this month with a loan move for Burnley’s Wout Weghorst.

[Reports](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/wout-weghorst-man-utd-transfer-28909940) have suggested that the Dutch striker will cut short his loan spell with Besiktas in order to complete a dream move to Manchester. A medical looks set to take place at some point this week, although Weghorst may not be the only striker that United look to sign this month.

### The Latest: Thuram transfer update

[The Faithful MUFC](https://www.thefaithfulmufc.com/the-star-thuram-could-sign-pre-contract-with-man-united/) relayed an update from [The Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/transfer-news/) on Monday regarding Thuram, who has recently been [dreaming](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/manchester-united-marcus-thuram-dreams-of-old-trafford-move/) of a move to Old Trafford.

They claim that United or Chelsea could sign the forward on a pre-contract agreement, with the 25-year-old set to turn down a new deal at Monchengladbach.

### The Verdict: No-brainer

Hailed as ‘[world class’](https://www.getfootballnewsgermany.com/2022/marcus-thuram-a-world-class-striker-after-recovering-from-serious-injury-last-year/) by Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schafer, Thuram is valued at €32m (£28.2m) by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/profil/spieler/318528) and can play [anywhere](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/profil/spieler/318528) across the forward line.

He has been in fine form this season, contributing to [13](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/leistungsdaten/spieler/318528) goals in [15](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/marcus-thuram/leistungsdaten/spieler/318528) Bundesliga games, so securing a pre-contract agreement would seem to be a no-brainer for the Old Trafford hierarchy.

United look set to bolster their attacking ranks for the second half of the season with Weghorst, so signing Thuram for nothing in the summer could be a great piece of business in the long run.
