**Every so often, even the bar-stool-experts in the Transfer Tavern are utterly dumbfounded following a story the proverbial rumour mill chucks up.**

That’s the case this evening following a story out of Spanish publication *[Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/inglaterra/mourinho-dibuja-nuevo-manchester-united-5151869).*

They [claim](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/inglaterra/mourinho-dibuja-nuevo-manchester-united-5151869) that incoming Manchester United is planning a stunning raid on Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for superstar goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

What’s more shocking is that the Red Devils are [understood](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/inglaterra/mourinho-dibuja-nuevo-manchester-united-5151869) to want to press ahead with that deal even if David De Gea STAYS at Old Trafford next season.

The Spaniard is [continually linked](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3606365/Manchester-United-star-Juan-Mata-hoping-build-bridges-inbound-Jose-Mourinho-David-Gea-s-future-remains-unclear.html) with a stunning move to Real Madrid, though the arrival of Jose Mourinho at the Theatre of Dreams could scupper the hopes of *Los Blancos* in landing him.

The Portuguese tactician is [reportedly](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/inglaterra/mourinho-dibuja-nuevo-manchester-united-5151869) keen on [possessing](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/inglaterra/mourinho-dibuja-nuevo-manchester-united-5151869) two top quality ‘keepers, with the likes of Sergio Romero and Victor Valdes failing to wholly convince at Old Trafford.

Lloris is undoubtedly one of the elite custodians on the continent and is a key player to the North London club, enjoying a rise under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino.

Likely to be a hugely expensive move to pull off, it would certainly rock the landscape of the Premier League.

**Will De Gea be at Old Trafford next season?**
