# Man Utd eye January move for prolific 12-goal striker as Atletico Madrid defeat sparks turmoil

[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-transfer-rumours/) are facing mounting turmoil after their 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid extended their winless run to five games in all competitions.

The Champions League loss has intensified pressure on Michael Carrick, with [Lisandro Martinez publicly questioning the club’s hierarchy](https://manunews.com/blog/man-utd-manager-news-michael-carrick-alan-smith-exclusive-2/) and Amad also expressing his frustration after another disappointing performance.

With tensions rising at Old Trafford, United could look to the January transfer window to strengthen their squad and address some of their shortcomings.

A prolific Croatian striker has now emerged as a potential target, although the Red Devils face competition from two Premier League rivals.

## **Man Utd Rival Spurs and Everton for Dion Beljo**

[According to TEAMtalk](https://www.teamtalk.com/manchester-united/dion-beljo-future-transfer-united-spurs-everton-january-window), Manchester United are among the clubs monitoring Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo ahead of the January transfer window, alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

The 24-year-old has caught the attention of several English clubs after an outstanding run in front of goal. Beljo has scored 12 goals in his last 14 games, including 10 in just seven league appearances for Dinamo Zagreb. He also found the net for Croatia, further raising his profile ahead of a potential move to one of Europe’s major leagues.

His recent form follows an impressive previous campaign, during which he scored 38 goals in 48 appearances. Standing at 6ft 5in, Beljo offers a physical presence through the middle, but his goalscoring record suggests he can provide much more than an aerial threat.

United are considering attacking reinforcements as they assess their options for the second half of the season. Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha are among the forwards at Carrick’s disposal, while Joshua Zirkzee’s future remains uncertain. Adding another centre-forward could give United greater depth and provide an alternative option in attack.

However, they are not alone in tracking Beljo. Tottenham are also assessing the striker as they look to strengthen their forward line, while Everton could be particularly keen to add another recognised goalscorer after being left short of options following Beto’s departure to Fiorentina.

Brentford are monitoring the Croatian too, while interest has reportedly emerged from the City Football Group and Chelsea ownership group BlueCo.

For now, the clubs are assessing Beljo rather than preparing confirmed bids, meaning a January transfer is not guaranteed. His performances, though, have made him a name to watch as the winter window approaches.

United’s immediate priority will be responding to their recent setbacks, but the prospect of signing a striker in red-hot form could become increasingly appealing if their attacking struggles continue.
