# Manchester United: Fans react to reports that Edinson Cavani is in talks to sign on a free transfer

**Many Manchester United fans have reacted to a claim from [talkSPORT](https://twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/1312394891431997440) that Edinson Cavani is in talks to move to Old Trafford.**

The 33-year-old Uruguayan striker is now a free agent after spending seven years with Ligue 1 side Paris Saint Germain.

Finishing his spell at Parc des Princes, the [116-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/edinson-cavani/nationalmannschaft/spieler/48280/verein_id/3449) international netted an impressive [200 goals in 301 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/edinson-cavani/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/48280/verein/583) for PSG, and his future is now being discussed with a [recent report](https://talksport.com/football/768598/manchester-united-talks-edinson-cavani-psg-wages/) linking him with a move to Old Trafford.

United have struggled to sign players in this transfer window, bringing in just [Donny van de Beek from Dutch giants Ajax](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/manchester-united-officially-announces-donny-van-de-beek-signing). With the window coming to a close on Monday evening, talks over a deal for Cavani to become the next new face at the club are said to be progressing.

Cavani’s potential arrival to United would hand Solskjaer another option in attack, [joining the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Odion Ighalo and Daniel James.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-united/kader/verein/985)

His arrival at the club may have echoes of the [2014 signing](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29011493) of another South American striker in Radamel Falcao, who scored abundantly in Europe before moving to Old Trafford. However, he failed to impress in Manchester, netting just [four times in 29 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/falcao/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/39152/verein/985) for the club.

Here we take a look at some of the reaction from United fans via talkSPORT’s tweet, where they were asked to provide a rating out of 10 on the potential signing…

> For me he’s a great punt given his pedigree but only if we’ve been sensible with his contract and wages then yes it’s a win win but only if those terms have been done correctly
