# Manchester United plan scouting mission for “confident” Atletico Madrid forward

[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-transfer-rumours/) are continuing to assess potential additions as they look to strengthen their squad and close the gap on their Premier League rivals.

[With the club exploring options ahead of future transfer windows](https://manunews.com/blog/man-utd-transfer-news-assane-diao/), performances from some of Europe’s leading talents are attracting attention.

The Red Devils will have an ideal opportunity to assess one reported target at close quarters this week, with their Champions League meeting against Atletico Madrid offering a chance to watch the forward in action.

## **Manchester United to monitor Giuliano Simeone**

[According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/atletico-madrid/20261012/1004237661/manchester-united-aprovechara-espiar-directo-giuliano-simeone.html), Manchester United intend to watch Atletico Madrid forward Giuliano Simeone during Tuesday’s Champions League meeting at the Metropolitano Stadium.

The 23-year-old Argentina international has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City also reportedly keeping tabs on his situation.

Simeone’s energetic style, physical intensity and willingness to press make him a potentially attractive option for English football. His versatility in attack could also appeal to United as they consider ways to add depth and dynamism to their forward line.

The Atletico star –[described as “confident” by his father, Diego](https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/news/9p908eezf8xe19d1jl458dprt-diego-simone-praises-son-giulianos-form-atletico) – has recorded two goals and two assists in La Liga this season, while his performances in key matches have further raised his profile. He was particularly influential in Atletico’s recent Madrid derby victory, earning praise for his contribution to the result.

However, convincing Atletico to sell would be extremely difficult. Mundo Deportivo reports that the Spanish club consider Simeone untouchable, with his contract running until 2030 and a reported release clause worth €500 million (£423m).

The forward also has a strong emotional connection to Atletico, having grown up supporting the club and fulfilling his ambition of representing them at senior level. Those factors could make a move away from Madrid difficult to negotiate, regardless of interest from England.

Manchester United are therefore unlikely to find a deal straightforward, particularly given Atletico’s firm position over his future. The reported scouting mission should offer the club a closer look at his qualities, but it does not necessarily indicate that a formal bid is imminent.

With Manchester City and Tottenham also linked, United could face competition if Simeone eventually becomes available. For now, the Champions League clash provides an opportunity to assess a player who appears to fit the physical and tactical demands of the Premier League.
