# Man Utd tipped to complete long awaited world-class transfer, club hero is involved

**Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are all abuzz at the moment with the latest story coming out of Spain concerning Gareth Bale.**

It’s a feeling that United fans have gotten used to, too, with them signing the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan recently – with them all world class stars.

Signing Bale, though, would surely top even those three deals and Spanish outlet [Diario Gol](https://www.diariogol.com/es/notices/2017/03/gareth-bale-presiona-a-florentino-perez-con-una-llamada-del-united-de-mourinho-73120.php) thinks it could be on at last.

It’s a deal, of course, that has been mooted for some time with the likes of [The Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/541338/Gareth-Bale-Manchester-United-transfer-news) claiming last summer that the Welsh superstar could be on his way to Old Trafford.

This time around, though, the Spanish outlet [Diario Gol](https://www.diariogol.com/es/notices/2017/03/gareth-bale-presiona-a-florentino-perez-con-una-llamada-del-united-de-mourinho-73120.php) reckons it could happen with Bale unhappy living in Cristiano Ronaldo’s shadow at Real Madrid.

That, of course, is surely a given when you play at the Bernabeu but it’s understandable that a player of Bale’s calibre wants to be a hero in his own right.

And, ironically enough, it seems that the former United hero Ronaldo seems to be the catalyst here.
