# Everton: Frank Lampard still ‘keen’ on Luke Shaw

**Journalist Jacque Talbot has revealed that Frank Lampard is still ‘keen’ on signing Luke Shaw for [Everton](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/everton-fc-news/).**

### The Lowdown: Summer ‘talks’

Talbot has [shared](https://twitter.com/jac_talbot/status/1589962531916771328) that the Goodison Park outfit, along with Leicester City and another unnamed club, all held ‘talks’ with the England left-back over a potential move in the summer.

He [adds](https://twitter.com/jac_talbot/status/1589962534546612224) that Shaw actually wants a new five-year deal at Manchester United, even though the development of summer signing Tyrell Malacia ‘could hamper’ the 27-year-old’s starting place under Erik ten Hag.

### The Latest: Lampard still ‘keen’ on Shaw

Taking to Twitter, [Talbot](https://twitter.com/jac_talbot/status/1589962531916771328) has also revealed that Lampard ‘remains keen’ on bringing Shaw to Everton, leaving the door open for a potential deal in the January transfer window, should the defender not sign a new contract at Old Trafford.

The journalist said: *“Told Luke Shaw did have talks with Leicester City and Everton over the summer – plus one more side. Everton manager Frank Lampard remains keen on the England LB but player hoping for a contract extension at Old Trafford, which runs out next year – plus option of one more.”*

### The Verdict: Smart move?

Given that Ruben Vinagre is only at Everton [on loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-everton/leihspielerhistorie/verein/29), Shaw could provide some quality long-term competition to Vitaliy Mykolenko at left-back.

Once dubbed a ‘[machine](https://thehardtackle.com/reactions/he-has-been-fabulous-three-english-legends-praise-in-form-luke-shaw/)‘ by Lampard himself, the 27-year-old has made 227 senior appearances for Man United and has been capped 23 times by the England national team ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luke-shaw/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/183288/plus/0?saison=&verein=985&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)), highlighting his experience of playing at the highest level.

If he can keep himself injury-free, something with which he has had [problems](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/luke-shaw/verletzungen/spieler/183288) over the course of his career, Shaw could be another smart acquisition to an Everton backline which has already been boosted by the experience of Conor Coady and James Tarkowski.
