**![gundogangundogangundogan](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/gundogangundogangundogan.jpg)Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are happy to hear that their club are getting their business done early this summer, even before the Euros!**

According to [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/22/manchester-city-ready-to-sign-ilkay-gundogan-despite-injury-afte/), City have taken their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan one step further and have agreed a deal to sign the midfielder and the move could be completed in a matter of days.

Last week punters in the Tavern were informed that their new boss Pep Guardiola[wanted the German international](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/22/manchester-city-ready-to-sign-ilkay-gundogan-despite-injury-afte/), despite his most recent knee injury.

The board at the Etihad Stadium have granted the Spanish tactician his wish and they are expected to complete a deal this week [worth an initial £20.1 million.](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/22/manchester-city-ready-to-sign-ilkay-gundogan-despite-injury-afte/)

The fee [could rise by an £1.5 million to £21.6 million](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/05/22/manchester-city-ready-to-sign-ilkay-gundogan-despite-injury-afte/)depending on the player’s success at the club, due to various bonuses and clauses.

Our resident Citizens here in the Transfer Tavern feel this would be a fantastic signing for the club, and is the first piece in an exciting jigsaw that Guardiola is creating at the Etihad.
