# Manchester City: Fans bash Raheem Sterling contract extension talk

**Responding to a tweet by sports journalist [Nicolo Schira](https://twitter.com/NicoSchira/status/1240332942561480704), many Manchester City supporters have disagreed with the notion that star winger Raheem Sterling’s contract could be extended – with Schira’s update stating that the club could offer him a new deal until [2024](https://twitter.com/NicoSchira/status/1240332942561480704).**

Sterling, who has failed to score a Premier League goal since bagging a brace in the [3-2 defeat](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50862383) at Wolves back in December, could be on the verge of a new deal regardless – with Schira’s tweet also claiming that the Englishman’s wages could rise to [£18.6 million](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50862383) per year.

The 25-year-old, in the midst of a current dry spell, has still managed to accumulate 20 goals and seven assists in 39 appearances for the club this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raheem-sterling/leistungsdaten/spieler/134425)) – including a hat-trick in the Champions League against Atalanta. However, despite his past heroics, many City fans have bashed the reported news that he could be offered a contract extension – with one fan even claiming that it is ‘[time to sell him](https://publish.twitter.com/?query=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fanoviellomcfc%2Fstatus%2F1240349886832209920&widget=Tweet)‘ whilst another laments the wage offer as ‘[laughable](https://publish.twitter.com/?query=https%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2Fmcfc_JD%2Fstatus%2F1240347923029921795&widget=Tweet)‘.
