# Manchester City: Fans buzz over Caglar Soyuncu transfer rumours

**After suffering an extensive injury crisis to their backline so far this campaign, some Manchester City fans are ecstatic to be linked with some much-needed defensive back up.**

Following the departure of former captain and club legend Vincent Kompany [in the summer](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/may/19/vincent-kompany-manchester-city-leaves-fa-cup), and watching star defender Aymeric Laporte [almost rupture his ACL](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/manchestercity/man-city-defender-aymeric-laporte-escapes-acl-injury-but-set-for-spell-on-sidelines-a4228731.html), ruling him out until after the New Year, City supporters have begged for some reinforcements after watching Fernandinho partner either John Stones or Nicolas Otamendi to terrible effect.

According to a report from Fanatik via Sport Witness, [as tweeted by City Xtra](https://twitter.com/city_xtra/status/1196485575315992576?s=21), the Sky Blues are looking to launch a bid for Leicester City defender Caglar Soyuncu after his impressive start to the season.

The Turkish defender originally couldn’t get into the side due to Harry Maguire’s sensational form last season, but after he left for a transfer [record-breaking fee to Manchester United](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49224905), Soyuncu has stepped up in his role and as their main centre-back option.

As a result, Sky Blues supporters want to see him at the Etihad sooner rather than later.
