**According to an update by Spanish outlet Deportes Cuatro, via [Man City Xtra](https://twitter.com/City_Xtra/status/1329433008282202113), Barcelona superstar and heavily linked target Lionel Messi is ‘increasingly closer’ to leaving the Nou Camp amid reports Pep Guardiola and Txiki Begiristain are looking to bring him to Manchester.**

Indeed, as per this report, City are also looking to take advantage and ‘secure the operation’ in January – prompting many Sky Blues to go wild over this latest Messi update.

The Argentine, who was heavily linked with a move over the summer, could still make his way to the Etihad Stadium – a scenario which is arguably more probable now that Guardiola has put pen to paper on a [two-year extension.](https://www.mancity.com/news/mens/pep-guardiola-signs-new-contract-63741384)

After an exciting few days to be a City supporter, with the manager committing his future, this report that Messi could be edging closer has many Sky Blues in full voice.
