# Manchester City: Fans flock to Harry Kane update

**Flocking to Twitter, many Manchester City fans have been left ecstatic following an update on Tottenham Hotspur star and summer target Harry Kane.**

As confirmed by [manager Pep Guardiola](https://www.goal.com/en/news/guardiola-confirms-man-citys-interest-in-kane-after-wrapping/mvjlsmg967lw1e242l1ntz7ce), the Sky Blues held an interest in Kane over the most recent transfer window with reliable sources even saying that bids had been made.

Fabrizio Romano claimed that City lodged a [£100 million offer](https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/here-we-go-harry-kane-transfer-latest-as-manchester-citys-gbp100-million-bid-rejected-by-tottenham/) for his services which was swiftly rejected as sporting director Txiki Begiristain refused to meet Tottenham’s [£150m valuation.](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/harry-kane-transfer-man-city-24809961)

Kane bagged a phenomenal [23 goals and 14 assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/83532/History/Harry-Kane) in the Premier League alone last season, winning [the Golden Boot](https://www.premierleague.com/news/2154211), leaving little wonder why Guardiola wanted him at the Etihad.

Now, an update has emerged on City and their links to the 28-year-old.

[Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/transfers/2020-2021/harry-kane-may-yet-sign-new-tottenham-contract-but-manchester-city-have-moved-on-transfer-notebook_sto8540917/story.shtml) claim that the Sky Blues have now given up on their pursuit of Kane and are not planning a bid next summer, despite rumours.

Given his age at that point, bordering on 30 with little sell-on value, not to mention his history of [niggling ankle injuries](https://www.90min.com/posts/every-ankle-injury-harry-kane-since-2016-how-long-he-missed), you can see why City supporters are ecstatic at this news.

The Kane saga dominated Guardiola’s summer transfer window and there is a real argument to be made that other targets, like [Erling Haaland](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-nur-3-klubs-koennen-sich-erling-haaland-naechstes-jahr-leisten-77548432,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html) for instance, represent more value for money with a [similar goal record.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/315227/History/Erling-Haaland)

Following this update, City supporters are now happy their club is moving on from the forward.
