# Manchester City: Fans gleefully recall fateful Liverpool slip-up in 2014 title race

**Plenty of Manchester City fans have been looking back gleefully at a pivotal moment in the 2013/14 Premier League title race, one which they [ultimately won](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2013).**

Six years ago today, City’s title rivals Liverpool [blew a three-goal lead](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/27184083) away to Crystal Palace in the final 11 minutes at Selhurst Park, a result which opened the door for the Etihad Stadium outfit to clinch the title by winning their final two games [against Aston Villa and West Ham](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/spielplandatum/verein/281/plus/0?saison_id=2013&wettbewerb_id=&day=&heim_gast=&punkte=&datum_von=-&datum_bis=-).

On the anniversary of ‘Crystanbul’, Twitter channel [@City\_Xtra](https://twitter.com/City_Xtra/status/1257444898887749632) shared a video featuring the Eagles’ three goals and the post-match tears of then-Liverpool striker Luis Suarez as he was glumly consoled by team-mate Steven Gerrard.

Manchester City had already been given a boost by [Chelsea beating the Reds](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/27092978) a week earlier, with Manuel Pellegrini’s men [winning at Crystal Palace](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/apr/27/premier-league-crystal-palace-manchester-city) on the same day, and late goals from [Damien Delaney and Dwight Gayle (two)](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/27184083) left Liverpool stunned at Selhurst Park in a dramatic Monday night fixture.

These City fans on Twitter loved watching the Merseysiders’ title dreams collapse, with one supporter calling it “[my new favourite video](https://twitter.com/Foooooden01/status/1257447575055187968?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)“. Here is a flavour of their reactions:
