# Manchester City: Fans gush over much-needed Oleksandr Zinchenko update

**After succumbing to a [2-2 draw at the weekend](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f2isGjUr9k) away to Newcastle United, taking the lead twice, Manchester City find themselves 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool – but a crucial injury update surrounding Oleksandr Zinchenko has supporters excited over positive news.**

Raheem Sterling[gave City the lead](https://www.caughtoffside.com/2019/11/30/video-willems-cancels-out-sterling-opener-as-pair-swap-top-finishes-in-newcastle-man-city-clash/) with an acute finish before Jetro Willems fired home a stunning equaliser in the first half – with supporters going into raptures in the away end when Kevin De Bruyne thundered a half volley off the crossbar in the last ten minutes which looked like the winning goal.

However, with Jonjo Shelvey [equalising for the hosts](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f2isGjUr9k) moments later, Pep Guardiola’s side conceded more dropped points in a title race which looks more and more like slipping away.

After another bad weekend, an injury update regarding Zinchenko has delivered some positive news – with the Ukranian [returning to first-team training](https://twitter.com/city_xtra/status/1201206534652473345?s=21).

As a result, supporters were quick to gush over the announcement on Twitter – here’s what they had to say.
