# Manchester City: Fans hail Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne partnership after win

**After Manchester City laid to rest a harrowing [3-2 loss at Wolves](https://www.premierleague.com/match/46794), beating Sheffield United [2-0 at home](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UHPAAzJVX4) to round off a superb 2019 in style, supporters have lauded the partnership of Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne – with both players making an influential contribution in their latest victory at the Etihad Stadium.**

The away side were denied an opening goal when VAR brought it back for a [marginal offside](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/var-man-city-sheffield-united-17486521) decision, with City playmaker De Bruyne eventually putting Sergio Aguero in on goal to score the first of the game.

Later on, in the dying minutes of a nervy contest, Mahrez and the Belgian linked up for a brilliant second – with the former Leicester City man laying the ball off to De Bruyne who wrong footed Blades ‘keeper Dean Henderson with a superb finish.

Taking this into account, supporters have lauded the partnership of these two players – contemplating the potential of the pair if they link up regularly.

Here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
