# Manchester City: Fans lament another injury problem as Anfield trip looms

**It was a good weekend in the end for Manchester City, [coming back from 1-0 down against a resolute Southampton](https://www.google.com/search?q=man+city&rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&oq=man+city&aqs=chrome.0.35i39j69i59l2j69i60l2j69i61.948j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=m;/g/11hyk3gw62;2;/m/02_tc;ln;fp;1;;) to nick the game just a few minutes from added time, though now there’s some more bad injury news.**

The Sky Blues fell behind early in the first period when Ederson’s fumble resulted in James Ward-Prowse poaching the ball in from close range with a striker’s instinct.

From then on, City threw the kitchen sink, implementing wave after wave of attacks before finally getting the breakthrough when Kyle Walker set up Sergio Aguero to nutmeg keeper Alex McCarthy from close range.

With all the momentum heading into a nervy last third, Walker put those nerves to rest when he netted Angelino’s cross five minutes from added time – keeping crucial pressure [on league leaders Liverpool.](https://www.google.com/search?q=premier+league+table&rlz=1C1DVJR_enGB846GB846&oq=premier+league+table&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i59l2j69i60l3.2926j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#sie=lg;/g/11fj6snmjm;2;/m/02_tc;st;fp;1;;)

However, it has now been revealed that City legend David Silva [suffered a muscular injury](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/man-city-suffer-injury-blow-20802794) in the first half of their Saints encounter – with Pep Guardiola throwing on Gabriel Jesus in place of the Spaniard – in what looked like a tactical substitution at the time.

The news, [confirmed](https://twitter.com/ManCity/status/1191120367429070848) by Guardiola, comes as a hammer blow for the Sky Blues’ Anfield preparations, as they are set to be [without a number of first team stars](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/sperrenundverletzungen/verein/281).

Here’s how the fans reacted to their ridiculously bad luck with player fitness.
