# Manchester City: Fans lament ‘toothless’ Manchester derby performance

**Following Manchester City’s [2-0 derby defeat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYbNYsrl2d4) at Old Trafford, a result which gave rivals Manchester United their first league double over the Sky Blues for a decade, many supporters have flocked to slam the performance in response to [Man City Xtra’s post](https://twitter.com/james63727834/status/1236722169318604800?s=21).**

Despite having the majority of the ball on Sunday afternoon, City failed to truly stamp their authority on the contest – with United creating the best opportunities when given the chance to break away. Shortly before half time, attacker Anthony Martial drove a tame shot past Ederson who fumbled what should have arguably been a save. From then on, City attempted to draw the game level through a few decent missed opportunities – with Raheem Sterling failing to convert a superb cross by Riyad Mahrez. Chasing the game, ‘keeper Ederson was responsible for another howler – throwing the ball to Scott McTominay who buried the ball into an empty net.

As a result, many supporters have been fuming at the ‘[toothless](https://twitter.com/smashi01/status/1236724084383322121?s=21)‘ and ‘[embarrassing](https://twitter.com/molyneuxluke/status/1236722285601488896?s=21)‘ display – here’s what they had to say on Twitter.
