# Manchester City: Fans laugh off links to Leicester City duo Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu

**After suffering an [extensive injury list](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/sperrenundverletzungen/verein/281) this season, including first-team stars Aymeric Laporte, Ederson and Oleksandr Zinchenko sidelined for the foreseeable future, rumours have been spreading like wildfire surrounding some potential defensive buys in the January transfer window.**

Due to Manchester City’s increasing weakness at the back, being forced to play [Fernandinho](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fernandinho/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/26267/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=3&trainer_id=) at centre-back beside Nicolas Otamendi or John Stones, some supporters have called for the champions to enter the transfer market and shore up a backline in much need of a leader following Vincent Kompany’s departure.

The Citizens legend was crucial to their treble-winning season last campaign, forming a solid partnership in the final stages with Laporte and [scoring an incredible strike against Leicester City](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrkwjtI93MU) to clinch three points in their penultimate match.

With that, according to [Sky Sports News](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11861835/man-city-consider-jonny-evans-and-caglar-soyuncu), Pep Guardiola’s men could be making a move for Foxes duo Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans.

[Evans](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41071705) was previously linked with a move to the Etihad two seasons ago, meanwhile, [Soyuncu](https://talksport.com/football/604792/caglar-soyuncu-leicester-praise-gary-lineker-jamie-carragher-stuart-pearce/) has impressed since [Harry Maguire left the King Power](https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/harry-maguire-confirmed-as-man-utd-third-summer-signing) for Man United in the summer.
