# Manchester City: Fans vent their anger after Jurgen Klopp wins Best FIFA Men’s Coach award

**Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was [shortlisted for the Best FIFA Men’s Coach award at The Best FIFA Football Awards](https://www.fifa.com/the-best-fifa-football-awards/best-fifa-mens-coach/) on Monday but was overlooked for the honour.**

Instead, the award [went to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp](https://www.fifa.com/the-best-fifa-football-awards/best-fifa-mens-coach/), whose team [fell short to Manchester City in the Premier League title race](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table/2018) but [won the Champions League](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48368443).

Manchester City-focused Twitter channel [@YourMCFC](https://twitter.com/yourmcfc/status/1176221957840416770?s=21) subsequently expressed frustration at Klopp beating Guardiola to the award.

Despite being [knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47953693), Manchester City still had a hugely successful 2018/19 season under Guardiola, [retaining the Premier League and Carabao Cup](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/erfolge/verein/281) while [also winning the FA Cup](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/erfolge/verein/281) to become the [first team in English football to win all three trophies in the same season](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48321358).

In winning the Premier League title, Guardiola’s team [retrieved a 10-point deficit on Liverpool towards the end of 2018](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46656883) to [overtake the Reds within six weeks](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47051925) and ultimately [finish top by one point](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table/2018).

These Manchester City fans took to Twitter to show their unhappiness at Klopp being chosen ahead of Guardiola for the Best FIFA Men’s Coach award:

> Did any city fan really expect Pep to win?? It’s an absolute joke!![#AllCorrupt](https://twitter.com/hashtag/AllCorrupt?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

> VVD voted above Ronaldo and Aguaro not in the top ten. Need VAR!! No wonder City boo the CL anthem.\
> One trophy makes Klop the best coach in Europe?\
> Guardiola has broken a dozen PL records. Won the league last year with his best player missing. I shake my head in despair
