# Manchester City: Fans want Kalidou Koulibaly and Aymeric Laporte partnership

**Having suffered through an extensive injury list so far this season, Manchester City fans are already looking to the future.**

Following the departure of City legend Vincent Kompany in the summer and losing Aymeric Laporte for half the season through injury, the champions have suffered some disappointing results.

Indeed, Pep Guardiola’s have already lost two games this season, compared to Liverpool who have won every game so far, and while there is still a long way to go, the odds appear to be stacked against the champions.

At the moment, Pep Guardiola’s men are having to improvise with only one recognised centre-half by partnering Fernandinho with Nicolas Otamendi – which, right now, isn’t looking like a viable option moving forward given the most recent result – a 2-0 loss at home to Wolves.

So, as you can imagine, plenty of supporters online were delighted when the club decided to include a story from [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/napoli-identify-potential-koulibaly-replacement/ehzzhm7yplfp14izsnd8cdd7u) claiming that Napoli were prepared to sign a potential Kaldiou Kouliably in their Media Watch, posted on Twitter. [Hailed](https://www.football-italia.net/140890/insigne-koulibaly-europes-best) as the best defender in Europe by teammate Lorenzo Insigne earlier this year, Gazzetta dello Sport [claimed](https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie-A/Napoli/18-06-2019/napoli-manchester-city-pronto-maxi-offerta-95-milioni-koulibaly-340179634052.shtml) back in June that City had lodged a major bid for the former Genk ace.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the reaction as City cheekily included him on their timeline.
