# Manchester City: Many fans think Joao Cancelo should be starting

**Joao Cancelo has only started once for Manchester City since signing for the club from Juventus during the summer.**

That came against Preston North End in the Carabao Cup, where he played the full 90 minutes as City went on to win 3-0, as per [**Transfermarkt**](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-cancelo/leistungsdaten/spieler/182712).

So far, across the Champions League and Premier League, he has made three substitute appearances, which add up to a total of [**46 minutes**](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-cancelo/leistungsdaten/spieler/182712).

The 25-year-old has given a hint of his quality in a video which was posted on Man City’s official Twitter page:

This has got plenty of the club’s fans stating that they think the [Portugal international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-cancelo/profil/spieler/182712) should be starting for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Some claimed that Kyle Walker should be dropped to facilitate him, while others suggested the [England international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kyle-walker/profil/spieler/95424) should be moved to centre-back with Cancelo being played on the right.
