# Manchester City: Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure penalty debate divides supporters

**After Manchester City news account City Chief [posted the greatest ultimatum to supporters](https://twitter.com/city_chief/status/1199017405353213952?s=21), offering a choice between Mario Balotelli and Yaya Toure to take a last minute penalty to win a hypothetical match, fans have been split ever since over who they would entrust with the responsibility.**

Both players wrote themselves into Sky Blue folklore with their stunning contributions at the beginning of the Sheikh Mansour era – with Balotelli famously sporting the ‘Why Always Me?’ shirt in the [historic 6-1 Old Trafford derby win](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/15325536) and providing the assist for Sergio Aguero’s [title-winning goal against QPR.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfTWp5dKkDc)

Meanwhile, Yaya Toure’s record in big games has cemented his place as one of City’s most important ever midfielders – scoring the winner [in both](https://www.mancity.com/news/first-team/first-team-news/2017/march/man-city-yaya-toure-interview-fa-cup-middlesbrough) the 2011 FA Cup semi-final and final, [a brace away to Newcastle](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/17885333) in their penultimate 2011/2012 game, a stunning [long-range effort](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/fa-league-cups/manchester-city-3-sunderland-1-yaya-toure-hails-his-greatest-ever-goal-in-capital-one-cup-final-9163713.html) against Sunderland in the Capital One Cup final and [the winning penalty against Liverpool](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35624164) in the same competition two seasons later.

Both players were also prolific spot-kick takers, with Balotelli and Toure both [never missing a penalty](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mario-balotelli/elfmetertore/spieler/45146) during their time with City, [as per Transfermarkt.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yaya-toure/elfmetertore/spieler/13091)

Here’s how divided the fans were on Twitter over the debate.
