Former Manchester City star Michael Ball insists that Jack Grealish can handle the pressure that comes with being the most expensive English footballer of all time.
City broke the British transfer record to trigger the release clause in his Aston Villa contract, spending £100m to bring him to the Etihad Stadium. That record could well be broken, of course, if City also buy Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.
Grealish made his Premier League debut on Sunday against Spurs but was unable to prevent a defeat for Pep Guardiola’s men, as they went down 1-0 to a Son Heung-Min goal.
Is Jack Grealish worth £100million?
However, Ball is confident that the England international will be able to cope with the expectations placed upon him.
Indeed, he was in superb form for Villa last season, scoring six goals and registering 12 assists in 26 league appearances, and also playing a role in the Three Lions’ run to the Euro 2020 final.
Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, he said: “With Jack, that will bring huge pressure on his shoulders. I feel that he can handle it.”
