Manchester City youngster Adedire Mebude is a target for three clubs, according to a report from The Athletic

The lowdown: Rising star

Signed from Rangers' youth system in 2020, the Scotland youth international has continued his impressive rise through the ranks since arriving in Manchester.

The 18-year-old has directly contributed to 38 goals in 41 outings across various youth levels for the Citizens and made a big impact as their under-18s won the English league title in that age category last season, scoring 12 goals and supplying 17 assists in that victorious campaign.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mebude is now wanted by at least three clubs, including one fellow Premier League outfit...

The latest: Hot property

As per The Athletic, PSV Eindhoven and Club Brugge are both keen on signing the Scotland under-19 starlet.

It's claimed that the two European clubs have 'enquired' about the teenager, while an unnamed Premier League side are also in the mix to land Mebude, although it is 'unclear' what City will decide.

The report states that the discussions are 'focused on a permanent transfer' with a buyback clause involved for the youngster, who has been hailed as 'very exciting' by academy coach Brian Barry-Murphy.

The verdict: Difficult call

Clearly boasting an abundance of talent based on the excellent numbers achieved in youth football, those in situ at the Etihad Stadium have a huge decision to make when it comes to deciding what should come next for Mebude.

Although City are unlikely to be willing to give up on a prodigious talent, it seems improbable that Pep Guardiola will call upon the versatile London-born attacker anytime soon given the embarrassment of riches at his disposal, particularly after seeing off interest in Bernando Silva.

Instead, allowing Mebude to leave the club, either on loan or with a return clause in place, appears to be the perfect solution, and the final days of the transfer window may well see something materialise on that front.
