Speaking in a press conference, manager Pep Guardiola hinted at his desire to remain in Manchester past his contract expiry – claiming that he is ‘happy’ and wants to do a good job in order to stay longer.
Guardiola, who took over at the Etihad Stadium back in 2016 to succeed Manuel Pellegrini, has gone on to guide the Sky Blues to domestic trophies galore – winning two Premier League titles, three Carabao Cups, two Community Shields and an FA Cup during his tenure in charge (Transfermarkt).
Even though City have so far failed to get past the Champions League quarter-final stage under Guardiola, their steady collection of silverware and electric brand of football has prompted supporters to plead for the Spaniard’s extension.
RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has been tipped as Guardiola’s successor recently, but these Citizens want their boss to stay at Eastlands as long as possible after the manager’s pledge.
