Paris Saint-Germain have offered Manchester City the chance to sign Neymar, according to Le Parisien (translated by GFFN).

The Lowdown: Neymar’s PSG career

In 2017, the Brazil international completed his world-record transfer to the Ligue 1 outfit in a sensational deal worth £200m.

In 144 appearances for PSG, the 30-year-old has scored 100 goals and produced 60 assists, making him the club’s fifth-top scorer of all time (via Transfermarkt).

However, the winger has had little luck in recent times. During the 2021/22 league campaign, Neymar played just 22 games all season due to a serious ankle injury.

The Latest: Neymar offered to City

According to a report by Le Parisien (translated by GFFN, via City Xtra), Man City have been offered the chance to sign Neymar this summer.

However, it is claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side have thus far declined to enter talks with the Paris outfit.

The Verdict: One of the best

If Neymar’s goals and assists aren’t enough to secure himself as one of the best players in world football, then his underlying stats certainly will.

As per FBRef, when compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, the Brazilian ranks in the 99th percentile for progressive passes, in the 98th percentile for shot-creating actions and in the 96th percentile for expected assists.

It is easy to see why ex-pro David Cotterill hailed Neymar as the “the most underrated player of all time”, with Guardiola further claiming that “he makes football a pleasure” to watch.

We wouldn't be surprised to see City return to the negotiating table before the summer is out.
