Manchester City are looking at a deal for free agent teenager Dzenan Pejcinovic, according to German publication Bild (via Sport Witness).

The lowdown

Pejcinovic had been on the books of Augsburg but has been without a club since Friday, having reached the end of his contract with the Bundesliga outfit.

He had previously been part of the youth setup at Bayern Munich before making the move to Augsburg in 2017.

Aged just 17, he hadn't made his senior debut for the club before he opted to leave.

The latest

The report from Bild (via Sport Witness) says that 'City want to sign' Pejcinovic, who has been billed as a 'super-talent'.

For now, it's Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg who are considered the favourites in the competition for his signature.

The verdict

The 'super-talent' tag for Pejcinovic is certainly justified. He scored 12 goals in 21 appearances in the Under-17 Bundesliga (South/Southwest division) last season and promptly graduated to the Under-19 equivalent ahead of schedule (via Transfermarkt).

However, what's most impressive is his record for Germany at under-17 level. In his first 16 caps at that age group, he has remarkably scored 17 goals and provided five assists.

Talent scout Jacek Kulig has described that record as 'phenomenal' and talked up Pejcinovic's ruthlessness in front of goal, billing him a 'natural born killer'.

He would probably join up with City's under-18s or under-23s at first if he were to move to the Etihad Stadium, but he certainly seems to be a name to remember for the future.
