# Man City: Sky Blues offered chance to sign Neymar

**Paris Saint-Germain have offered [Manchester City](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-city-news/) the chance to sign Neymar, according to Le Parisien (translated by GFFN).**

### **The Lowdown: Neymar’s PSG career**

In 2017, the Brazil international completed his world-record transfer to the Ligue 1 outfit in a sensational deal [worth £200m.](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11820/10972928/neymar-signs-for-paris-saint-germain-from-barcelona)

In 144 appearances for PSG, the 30-year-old has scored 100 goals and produced 60 assists, making him the club’s fifth-top scorer of all time (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-paris-saint-germain/topTorschuetzen/verein/583)).

However, the winger has had little luck in recent times. During the 2021/22 league campaign, Neymar played just [22 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neymar/leistungsdaten/spieler/68290/plus/0?saison=2021) all season due to a serious ankle injury.

### **The Latest: Neymar offered to City**

According to a report by Le Parisien (translated by GFFN, via [City Xtra](https://twitter.com/City_Xtra/status/1549389942547161089)), Man City have been offered the chance to sign Neymar this summer.

However, it is claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side have thus far declined to enter talks with the Paris outfit.

### **The Verdict: One of the best**

If Neymar’s goals and assists aren’t enough to secure himself as one of the best players in world football, then his underlying stats certainly will.

As per [FBRef](https://fbref.com/en/players/69384e5d/Neymar), when compared with positional peers across Europe over the past year, the Brazilian ranks in the 99th percentile for progressive passes, in the 98th percentile for shot-creating actions and in the 96th percentile for expected assists.

It is easy to see why ex-pro [David Cotterill](https://twitter.com/cotterill_david/status/1540248504982962176) hailed Neymar as the “the most underrated player of all time”, with [Guardiola](https://thefootballfaithful.com/neymar-makes-football-a-pleasure-guardiola-praised-psg-star/) further claiming that “he makes football a pleasure” to watch.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see City return to the negotiating table before the summer is out.
