# Manchester City: Sky Blues flock to Raheem Sterling development

**Flocking to Twitter, many Manchester City supporters have been flooding to react to a development on Raheem Sterling which emerged on Friday.**

Sterling has been called up to England’s [26-man squad](https://theathletic.com/news/england-euro-2020-squad-full-26-man-team-ahead-of-2021-tournament-11-06-21/PihUH1uEYg2C) for the European Championships and has arguably been one of the national side’s more important players since the beginning of qualifying.

However, at club level, the 26-year-old went through a dwindling patch of form with City over 2020/2021 – scoring less than half of the goals he managed in 2019/2020 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raheem-sterling/profil/spieler/134425)).

There have even been rumours of his possible sale this summer, either[for profit](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9630941/Manchester-City-Raheem-Sterling-SHOCK-clubs-list-players-sale.html) or as [a makeweight](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/15123568/man-city-sterling-jesus-tottenham-kane-transfer/) to sign superstar striker Harry Kane.

Now, another development has emerged on Sterling, this time concerning his place in the England national team.

Journalist Sami Mokbel, writing for [the Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9678191/Raheem-Sterling-set-handed-shock-start-England-boss-Gareth-Southgate-Euro-2020-opener.html), has claimed that the winger will be handed a start against Croatia by manager Gareth Southgate.

The Three Lions play Croatia in their opening Euro 2020 encounter three years after their famous World Cup semi-final clash in 2018.

Reacting to this news that Sterling is set to start, many Sky Blues had no shortage of opinions on social media in reply to [City Xtra](https://twitter.com/City_Xtra/status/1403458628326133772) and [Man City Report](https://twitter.com/cityreport_/status/1403457534938263553) – find the best ones down below.
