# Manchester City: Some City fans talk about Douglas Costa

**Some Manchester City fans have been left talking by the club’s latest links with Juventus winger Douglas Costa.**

Recently, Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport ([via Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8195759/Pep-Guardiola-ready-offer-Douglas-Costa-reunion-Manchester-City.html)) reported that City had tried to snatch the Brazilian when he wasn’t on the market and he is now an idea that has become ‘topical’ once again if the prospect of a swap deal involving Gabriel Jesus heats up.

A [City-related page called Man City Xtra relayed this piece](https://twitter.com/City_Xtra/status/1247484872572231680) of information on Twitter. This got many Citizens talking and they weren’t happy with this news.

This season, Douglas has endured an injury-prone campaign for the Bianconeri. The former Bayern Munich man has [missed 17 games due to injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-costa/verletzungen/spieler/75615) under Maurizio Sarri. He has made only [18 appearances in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-costa/leistungsdaten/spieler/75615) with [only 14 coming in Serie A](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-costa/leistungsdaten/spieler/75615), where he has racked up three assists so far.

The Brazilian has previously played under Pep Guardiola during their time together in Bavaria and in the 2015-16 season, Douglas had come up with[25 goal contributions while playing 43 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-costa/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/75615/plus/0?saison=2015&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) in all competitions for Bayern.

While that does show that he did have some quality, but Costa has missed [43 games due to injury since](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/douglas-costa/verletzungen/spieler/75615) arriving in Turin. It shows that his fitness record isn’t the best and due to him being 29 currently, City won’t get a long-term option in him.

Costa also has a poor disciplinary record and [it is evident from how he spit on Federico di Francesco last season](https://www.goal.com/en-in/news/costa-stung-with-four-match-ban-after-spitting-incident/18aan0947wkst16dy81an3no1h). It shows that Costa won’t be a player worth signing for the Citizens.
