# Manchester City star set for Etihad Stadium stay after all?

[![dzeko](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/dzeko-500x341.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/dzeko.jpg)Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are rather shocked at the claim coming from the [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/5571618/Edin-Dzeko-set-to-discuss-contract-with-Man-City.html) and move over to our landlord to hear about it.

The publication have claimed that Edin Dzeko is set for a new deal with the club, and that comes as somewhat of a surprise to our regulars, as we thought he was on his way out of the Etihad Stadium this summer.

City have been linked with a host of forwards, including Chelsea player Romelu Lukaku, yet it seems that they could well be keen on keeping Dzeko at the club.

One of our punters notes over a beer that it is not the new contract that is the issue, but the fact that Dzeko may well want a move – and a greater chance of first team football.

The Bosnian forward has impressed of late and has moved ahead of Alvaro Negredo in the pecking order after a dip in form from the £18 million summer signing.

Our punters make the point that if City do lift the title this season, a huge part of that will be down to their forwards, and we can fully understand why a new deal for Dzeko is on the table.
