Paul Stewart has exclusively told The Transfer Tavern he thinks Yves Bissouma would be an ideal long-term replacement for Fernandinho at Manchester City.
The Mali international midfielder’s impressive form has led to interest from City, Arsenal, Everton, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Would Yves Bissouma be a good signing for Man City?
Bissouma only has two years remaining on his £25,000-per-week contract at Brighton and Premier League champions City are hoping to attract the 24-year-old to the Etihad Stadium.
It comes after fellow central midfielder Fernandinho signed a new one-year deal to keep him on City’s books earlier this summer.
However, with the Brazilian now 36, it is likely that Fernandinho will leave Pep Guardiola’s side in less than 12 months and ex-City man Stewart believes Bissouma would be an ideal option to welcome to the club ahead of the new season.
Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern, he said: “I can see why City would go after him.
“They have kept Fernandinho for another year, possibly to have him around the changing room. He’s a great professional, a bit like Vincent Kompany.”
