Forza Italian Football editor Conor Clancy has urged Manchester City to beef up their defensive options by signing Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Napoli central defender has been linked with Europe’s biggest clubs for a number of years, having made more than 200 Serie A appearances over the last seven seasons and won 47 international caps for Senegal.
Back in 2019, former Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is now in charge of Real Madrid, described Koulibaly as the best centre-back in the world.
Should Man City sign Koulibaly?
Koulibaly, 30, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli have set a £43million price tag.
Ahead of their bid to defend the Premier League title in the upcoming season, Manchester City have handed central defender John Stones a new five-year deal.
But Italian football expert Clancy believes defensive monster Koulibaly is a better option than the England international, and feels City boss Pep Guardiola should make a move.
He told The Transfer Tavern: “Koulibaly is a player who should not just be competing for titles but winning titles every year.
“He should be playing for someone like Man City. He shouldn’t be at Napoli.”
