Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola are now eyeing a move for Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, according to reports.

The Lowdown: City make plans...

City are currently contending for their third-successive Premier League title having retained their domestic crown on the final day of 2021/2022.

What followed was a major summer of change at Eastlands with long-serving mainstays like Raheem Sterling, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho all departing alongside some promising rising stars like Romeo Lavia.

In their stead, the Sky Blues signed in-form superstar striker Erling Haaland, Kalvin Phillips, Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega, Sergio Gomez and Manuel Akanji - sealing six major signings and rounding off one of the busiest City windows in recent memory.

Sporting director Txiki Begiristain, however, remains busy behind-the-scenes with a new target now coming to light in one of Serie A's most prominent young attackers.

The Latest: Pep eyes Kvaratskhelia move...

Now, Begiristain and Guardiola appear to be eyeing Napoli sensation Kvaratskhelia alongside arch rivals Liverpool.

According to Calciomercato (via Sport Witness), both Jurgen Klopp's side and City are following the 21-year-old with 'great attention' amid his brilliant season in Italy so far.

It's added the Georgia international is 'impressing everyone', including the Blues it seems, as Guardiola and co now register an interest.

The Verdict: Huge potential...

Football analyst Statman Dave has called Kvaratskhelia an 'exciting' player whilst 90min editor Jack Gallagher has branded him 'probably the best player in Serie A' right now.

It's clear he is highly rated by members of the media and the former Rubin Kazan star's numbers certainly back up his obvious ability.

As per WhoScored, no Napoli player has completed more successful take-ons than the winger who also currently ranks in their top three for attempts at goal and key passes made per 90.

Meanwhile, only Juan Jesus has bettered Kvaratskhelia's average match rating this season, and if he continues these showings, it may only be a matter of time before he seals a move away - whether that be to City or elsewhere.
