Many Manchester City fans have been enraged on social media, following a report from Fabrizio Romano stating that Sporting CP left-back Nuno Mendes is close to signing for PSG after the Sky Blues refused to pay €40 million (£34.3 million) for his services.
Playing a major role in Sporting’s league triumph last term, the 19-year-old registered three goal contributions in 35 appearances; one goal and two assists [Transfermarkt].
He now looks set to head to Paris over Manchester after being in discussions with both clubs – Pep Guardiola’s side could certainly do with a natural left-back given that Oleksandr Zinchenko is more of a auxiliary option.
Should Manchester City have shelled out the money for Mendes?
Speaking to his enormous Twitter audience, Romano signified that Paris St-Germain had agreed terms with the French giants over the Citizens, stating: “Nuno Mendes is really close to join Paris Saint-Germain, personal terms agreed with Portuguese left back. Manchester City will not pay €40m. PSG working to complete the deal”.
In light of this news, no wonder loads of Manchester City diehards took to social media to vent their frustration at the decision not to pursue a deal.
Manchester City FC fans react:
Replying to popular Manchester City fan outlet City Xtra on Twitter, here is what some fans had to say about the update:
“This club can’t do nothing”
“Was gonna 130 million for kane but now can’t offer 34 million clubs turning into a embarrassing club”
