Manchester City’s Leroy Sane is still very keen on a move away from the Etihad Stadium amid speculation that Bayern Munich remain interested, according to a report by Bleacher Report.
The media outlet claim sources have informed them that the Bundesliga giants still desire to bring the winger back to Germany and will look to sign him in the next transfer window, however Pep Guardiola’s side may be handed a lifeline.
There is a suggestion the Bavarian outfit may not offer the same terms to Sane as they had previously before, which could give Manchester City an edge in trying to keep him in the Premier League as they will have another opportunity to hand him a new deal.
Of course, the rumours regarding Bayern Munich and Sane have been going on for what seems an eternity, with the German giants keen on the winger prior to him before he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the Community Sheild at the beginning of the campaign.
However, it is not difficult to see why the Bavarians are keen on bringing him back to his homeland, whilst Manchester City appear reluctant to let him go, as he has arguably been a big difference-maker that they have missed this season.
Sane has impressed during his time at the Etihad Stadium, having achieved average match ratings of 7.06, 7.54 and 7.26 in the three Premier League seasons prior to the one currently put on hold. Taking the last two campaigns into account, the 24-year-old appeared to find new heights for The Citizens, as he recorded an exceptional 20 goals and 25 assists in 63 appearances for Guardiola’s side (per WhoScored).
Looking at the individual breakdown of key attacking categories, though, and perhaps it is easier to recognise why Manchester City are keen on keeping the Germany international. The ex-Schalke man recorded an average of 1.8 shots per game each year, totals of 1.8 and 1.3 key passes and completed 2.7 and 1.8 dribbles per outing as well (per WhoScored).
Indeed, a player of Sane’s talent is always going attract interest from some of the big club’s within Europe and it can be difficult to try and cancel out all the noise surrounding the speculation about a move back to one’s homeland.
Of course, with the possibility that new financial implications may have arisen and the fact that Manchester City could have the opportunity of tabling him one last new offer, the Citizens could have one final chance of convincing the 24-year-old that his future is in England for the time being.
