# Manchester United: Dean Jones makes Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit claim

**[Transfer insider](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer) Dean Jones has made a bold claim surrounding the future of [Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.**

### The lowdown: An expensive disappointment

Signed for £50million from Crystal Palace ([BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48784655)), Wan-Bissaka arrived at Old Trafford with great expectations of a long and fruitful career.

However, the 24-year-old energetic right-back has struggled to recapture the form that earned the big-money move in the first place in [126 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-wan-bissaka/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/477758) for the Red Devils.

Now, as Erik ten Hag gets his own feet under the table in Manchester, having [lost his place](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-wan-bissaka/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/477758/saison/2021/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/985) to Diogo Dalot last season it could be the end of the road for the former England youth international.

### The latest: Jose watching on

Linked [elsewhere](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61313793) with a return to Palace, speaking to [Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/88019470-man-utd-50m-star-now-has-genuine-interest-at-old-trafford), Jones has claimed that ex-United manager Jose Mourinho is interested in taking Wan-Bissaka to AS Roma.

He said: “At a time when there aren’t many genuine paths for Wan-Bissaka, I’m hearing that there is genuine interest from Roma so that could be an interesting one that would help Ten Hag make space in an area that needs improving quickly.”

### The verdict: Cash in

Albeit Ten Hag has inherited a squad with far from an embarrassment of riches in the defensive department, allowing Wan-Bissaka to move on to pastures new would free up space and bring in funds to allow the Dutchman to pursue his own targets.

Having played a key role in the development of Bayern Munich-bound Noussair Mazraoui, Ten Hag is likely to implement attack-minded full-backs for the new-look Red Devils’ squad, a bill that the [three-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-wan-bissaka/nationalmannschaft/spieler/477758/verein_id/3299) England Under 21 international will struggle to fit based on what has been seen since arriving at Old Trafford.

Last term, Wan-Bissaka – who was lauded as [‘top class’](https://talksport.com/football/722323/aaron-wan-bissaka-is-the-best-defensive-full-back-in-the-premier-league-says-ally-mccoist-as-he-hails-top-class-manchester-united-squad/) by Ally McCoist based on his defensive acumen – failed to contribute directly to a [single goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-wan-bissaka/leistungsdaten/spieler/477758) in 26 appearances across all competitions, successfully finding a teammate with only [0.4 crosses](https://www.sofascore.com/player/aaron-wan-bissaka/863653) on average per game in the league, far less than his counterpart on the opposite side Luke Shaw, who was successful with [1.4](https://www.sofascore.com/player/luke-shaw/190839) of his deliveries.

Valued at £27million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-wan-bissaka/marktwertverlauf/spieler/477758)), selling the London-born ace this summer would still make for a worthwhile windfall as United cut their losses and admit a minor defeat.
