# Manchester United: Red Devils agree Adrien Rabiot deal

The 27-year-old is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adrien-rabiot/profil/spieler/182913) a central midfielder who can also play in a holding role when required. The France international has been with Juventus since [2019](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adrien-rabiot/transfers/spieler/182913) and is into the final [12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adrien-rabiot/profil/spieler/182913) of his current contract with the Italian giants.

The midfielder, who has scored [31](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adrien-rabiot/leistungsdaten/spieler/182913) goals during his career, has made more than [30](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adrien-rabiot/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/182913) Serie A appearances in each of the past two campaigns, and it looks as if a move to Old Trafford is on the cards.

They said that ‘Manchester United, we’re told, have agreed a deal with Juventus to sign Adrien Rabiot’, adding that personal terms still need to be finalised.

### The Verdict: Panic buy?

Erik ten Hag’s tenure as United manager began in the worst possible way with a 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton on Sunday, with owner [Avram Glazer](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/avram-glazer-man-utd-brighton-27680418) making a rare Old Trafford appearance to watch the game live.

United struggled throughout, and with midfield reinforcements [seemingly required](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-united-keane-mctominay-fred-24694424), it does appear to have a sense of a panic buy from Old Trafford officials, who are [struggling](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-admits-chelsea-transfer-good-option-clear-preference/) to get a deal over the line for priority target Frenkie de Jong.

Rabiot comes with a reputation for [off-field difficulties](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/mar/19/adrien-rabiot-psg-contract-suspension-france-football-future), which doesn’t appear to be what United need given the reports of [dressing room unrest](https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/man-utd-ronaldo-maguire-rangnick-26265109) in recent months.

Hopefully the Frenchman will prove to be a shrewd signing who significantly improves Ten Hag’s options in the middle of the park, but only time will tell.
